Back in '08, there was an !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on Jalopnik about a car called the Autech Zagato Stelvio.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
320 horsepower, Infiniti M30/Nissan Leopard based, funky styling.
Well, I found !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on Goo-Net. Only one lists a price, $24,470, or about 2,646,553 yen.
A far cry from it's original price of 18 million yen, or $166,428 in 2014 dollars.
Only 200 made, so this means I've found 1/100 of the total production on one site.

I know! I want one so bad! If you look hard enough, you can find decent condition ones for around the equivalent of $2k USD! (Around 1,300 Pounds) Then shipping back to the US would be around another 1.5 to 2K USD! I want one SO bad!

The Vivio VX-R and VX-RAs kinda were actual baby STis. Very popular for rally use.

I'd never heard of it before you posted it about it, but jeez the want is so strong! At that price I could possibly afford one in the next couple of years o:
Must resist the temptation... x.x

Indeed, I headed straight to the internet once I learned of them and found the cutest rally pictures ever. 10/10, would offroad!

I know! I hadn't heard of them before this morning when I was looking at AZ-1's and Honda Beats! (I want a car that is MINE in college, on most they are cheap but insurance is too high.) Insurance is based on displacement, and I'm pretty sure that .66L takes the cake! But it would still be fun ;)
I actually might be getting a 92 or a 93 model in the next 1-2 years!

Aw, it would be the most fun! Not to mention the most adorable daily driver out there.
I know the feeling, spending time on Goo-net looking at sweet kei cars. It's a crippling addiction! o.o
We absolutely have to get some, viva la Vivio!

I know! I had the D'awww reaction when I saw it and I knew I just HAD TO have it! I would take it autocrossing and rallycrossing! It would be so awesome (and terrifying to drive to said events lol)!

The roommate wanted to bring one in for his auto importing business, but figured nobody would buy one.

My roommate imported an Alto Works in April. It was ~$3k for shipping on a RoRo.

RoRo? From Japan to where? What was the total cost overall including the car?

I have a feeling it would be...interesting to cruise on the highway with! Still, totally worth it. I'd cover it in little ':3' stickers, go for a ridiculously cute look c: I have a feeling it would be pretty good at auto/rallycross, zero weight combined with just enough power to zip around the course!

Japan to Savannah, GA. I don't know what the total cost of the car was, just the shipping. He brought it in for his business - Michigan DMV is dragging their feet on on the title but once it's back they're going to sell it.
It's the RS-R I think? Hopped-up one without AWD. 1987 model.

Huh, well if I could get a running RX-R for under $3K USD bought and shipped I would be ecstatic!

The $3k was *just* for shipping. You have to add that *on top* of the price of the car.

I know, but there is a company that charges 100000 Yen ($1k US) for the paperwork and buying the car, and has a deal with a shipping company for shipping cars for 200000 Yen (2k US) and if the car is 100000 Yen (1k us) it will be around 4k US! Still a great deal!

The paperwork and shipping fees, if legit, seem to be a decent price. I don't think you're going to get an RX-R for $1k though - the cheapest '92 RX-R on GooNet is $4680 right now. The roommate says that when cars hit 25 yrs. old in Japan they see a spike in their prices because they're now legal for the gaijins to buy and ship over.

There was one on Yahoo JP auctions for 100k yen, but it had some issues. There was also one for 150k yen that looked mint! I'd probably end up budgeting somewhere around $4K for the car... if it is REALLY nice.
